In honor of our 16th Anniversary we are sharing a little about Design Studio B
&
Answering a few fun client questions!
Such as. . . “Where is Design Studio A?”
I wish I knew… I’m sure it exists somewhere… Plan B was better than Plan A…
These are a few of the ways I have answered this question. But, truth be told I do not know where Design Studio A is or if it’s even a real place.
I can tell you that Design Studio B evolved from the fact that Blissenbach was just too long and difficult to pronounce to name a business after, hence it was shortened to “B”. The logo itself has changed over the years but was conceptualized after a classic design motif – the Napoleon Bee which has been featured on fabrics and wallcoverings for many years.

“Your job must be so much fun…is it?”
Yes…most of time, well kind of, sure, yeah. In all seriousness, it is a very gratifying career and I would not change what I do for a living for anything! I love solving problems especially when the answer involves a new space plan where I could recreate space within the given footprint of a home. Not to mention selecting beautiful fabrics and furnishings to finish the space. My job is mostly fun but there are challenges as well. Let’s just say not everything always goes according to plan, but I do my best to put out any fires behind the scenes so all my clients see are the beautiful results!
“Karen how long have you been in business and where did you get your start?”
Sixteen years in Rochester now as Design Studio B! Prior to that I had a small firm (just me) Inside Design, LLP located in Madisonville, KY for two years. My first job after graduating from NDSU was in Minneapolis with Ramsey Engler Ltd. A firm which practices very high end, exclusive design. Within my first year or so of working with them, I was traveling to California and Colorado for some very significant projects. I also had the privilege to work on several Lake Minnetonka homes. I credit my time working for Ramsey Engler as a key component in laying the foundation for Design Studio B.
